What affects mixer hire cost?
Daily and weekly rates, ex-VAT. Five things move the price.
Mixer type
The 4/3 electric mixer sits at our entry rate. Petrol is priced separately when available. Transformers are added if your site is 110V only.
Hire duration
Daily is highest per day. Weekly is usually better value from three days+. Long projects can be quoted on request.
Pickup or delivery
Greenford UB6 collection keeps the cost cleanest. London delivery is available by booking — postcode-based pricing.
Site access
Kerbside drop-off is standard. Stairs, basements, tight gates or top-floor access may need extra arrangement — tell us at booking.
Cleaning & return
Return the drum reasonably clean. Heavy concrete build-up may incur a cleaning fee and additional hire time if it prevents re-hire.

Mixer hire — questions we hear every week
What mixer do I need for concrete?
For most domestic and small-site concrete jobs, a 4/3 drum mixer is the practical starting point. We hire two: a 4/3 electric mixer (110V or 240V) for jobs with mains, and a 4/3 petrol heavy-duty site mixer for off-grid work. Confirm material, batch size and power supply before booking.
Is a cement mixer the same as a concrete mixer?
In day-to-day language on UK sites, “cement mixer” and “concrete mixer” usually mean the same drum-style machine — a rotating drum that mixes concrete, cement and mortar. Both mixers in our range are 4/3 drum cement / concrete mixers.
Do I need a drum mixer or a paddle mixer?
Choose a drum mixer for concrete, mortar and sand-cement mixes where suitable. Choose a paddle mixer for plaster, tile adhesive, self-levelling compound and smoother finishing materials. If your job needs plaster, tile adhesive or self-levelling compound, call 020 3375 4048 before booking and we’ll advise on the suitable approach.
Can I mix mortar in a cement mixer?
Yes — a 4/3 drum cement mixer is suitable for bricklaying mortar batches and standard sand-cement mixes. Follow the material manufacturer’s instructions for ratios and working time, and clean the drum between mixes.
Can I mix plaster in a cement mixer?
Plaster is usually mixed with a paddle mixer rather than a drum mixer because it needs a smoother blend. If your job needs plaster, please call before booking and we’ll advise on the suitable approach.
Do I need a 110V or 240V mixer?
If your site runs 110V power tools and a transformer, choose the 110V option. For domestic jobs running standard mains, the 240V option (availability dependent) usually fits. For sites with no mains at all, the petrol 4/3 mixer is the off-grid pick. We also hire 3kVA and 5kVA site transformers if you need to step 240V down to 110V.
Can I use a mixer indoors?
Petrol mixers are intended for outdoor or well-ventilated work — indoor or enclosed areas create exhaust risks, so do not use petrol equipment indoors unless ventilation and safety requirements are properly met. Electric mixers are quieter, but you still need ventilation and dust control. Ask before booking if you’re unsure.
How much does mixer hire cost?
The 4/3 electric mixer starts from £12.60 / day (ex-VAT). The 4/3 petrol heavy-duty site mixer is priced separately when in stock — please call to confirm current availability. 110V site transformers start from £3.50 / day. Final price depends on hire length, delivery vs Greenford UB6 collection, and site access.
Can I collect from Greenford UB6?
Yes — Greenford UB6 collection is available by booking. We’ll confirm collection details when your booking is arranged. London delivery by booking is also available, postcode-based.
What PPE do I need when mixing cement?
At minimum: gloves to protect skin from wet cement, eye protection against splashes, and a dust mask or respirator to avoid breathing cement dust. Wear suitable footwear and clothing that covers exposed skin. Follow your site’s PPE policy and the material manufacturer’s safety guidance.
