Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which scaffold tower height I need?
Measure the highest point you need to reach, then subtract 2 metres. That gives you the platform height. For example, if you need to reach 8 metres (a typical two-storey gutter line), you need a 6.2 m platform, which gives an 8.2 m working height. Use our height guide above, or call us on 020 3375 4048 and we will help you choose.
What is the difference between platform height and working height?
Platform height is where your feet stand on the tower. Working height adds approximately 2 metres for your overhead reach. So a tower with a 4.2 m platform height has a 6.2 m working height. Always choose based on the height you need to reach, not the platform height alone.
Can I use this tower outdoors?
Yes. Outdoor use is safe up to 8 m platform height (10 m working height) when freestanding with stabilisers, per EN 1004 guidance. Above that height outdoors, towers should be tied in to the structure. Do not use any tower in winds above 17 mph (Beaufort Force 4). Always use on firm, level ground.
Do I need PASMA training to use a scaffold tower?
PASMA training is strongly recommended and many sites and clients require it. The person erecting and dismantling the tower must be competent. We supply the tower with assembly instructions and a safety checklist, but you are responsible for ensuring safe erection and use on your site.
Will the single width tower fit through a doorway?
Yes. The single width tower is 850 mm wide — narrower than a standard UK doorway (typically 760-840 mm clear opening). The frame components are designed to pass through standard doorways and be assembled inside. Double width towers (1,450 mm) will not fit through single doorways.
Can one person assemble the tower?
One person can assemble the tower using the 3T (Through The Trap) method, where you climb inside the tower and build upwards through the trap-door platform. A second person makes the job easier and faster, especially at greater heights. Two people are recommended above 6 m platform height.
What is included in the hire kit?
Every hire includes a complete kit: frames, horizontal and diagonal braces, trap-door platform, guardrails, toe boards, four locking castors, four adjustable legs, stabilisers (jumbo where required), and an assembly guide with safety checklist. The exact number of components depends on your chosen height. Nothing extra to source.
Is VAT included in the price?
No. All prices shown are exclusive of VAT. Delivery charges are calculated at checkout based on your postcode and dates.
