This is a hot water extraction carpet cleaner built for cleaning carpets, rugs and fabric upholstery where the material is suitable for wet cleaning. It supports end-of-tenancy cleans, rental refreshes, sofa and stair cleaning, car interiors and light moisture extraction after cleaning or minor spills where suitable. Always check the carpet or fabric care label, stain type, ventilation and power access before booking.
Best for — six common jobs
Where hot water extraction tends to perform well, on carpets and fabrics that are suitable for wet cleaning.
Domestic carpets
Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and stairs where the carpet is suitable for wet cleaning.
Fabric upholstery
Sofas, armchairs and fabric headboards where the fabric is suitable for wet cleaning.
End-of-tenancy
Rental refreshes between tenants — pair with an air mover to bring drying time down.
Car interiors
Seats, mats, boot carpets and door panels where access allows light passes.
Small commercial
Office carpets, salons and small shops — best for rooms and aisles, not very large open floors.
Minor wet-area clean-up
Light moisture extraction after cleaning or minor spills where suitable, then run an air mover to finish drying.
Not ideal for / confirm before booking
- Delicate carpets or specialist fabrics not suitable for wet cleaning — read the manufacturer’s care label.
- Pure wool or natural fibre rugs without a wet-clean / colourfast label — water and warm solution can affect dye and pile.
- Heavily set-in stains (oil, paint, ink, dye transfer, pet marks or unknown stains) — extraction may reduce them but does not always remove them.
- Hard floors (tile, vinyl, laminate, wood, polished concrete) — use a scrubber dryer instead.
- External hard surfaces (paving, decking, driveways) — use a pressure washer instead.
- Rooms with no easy mains power access — check power access before booking; we can advise what is needed for the machine.
Before-you-hire checklist
Run through these before booking — it stops most wrong-product hires and helps us advise on suitability.
- Carpet or fabric type. Wool, synthetic, blended, rug, sofa fabric — check what you’re cleaning.
- Is wet cleaning suitable? Confirm via the manufacturer’s care label or backing markings.
- Stain or dirt type. General soiling, traffic lanes, food, drinks, pet, paint or oil.
- Room or area size. Approximate square metres or number of rooms helps us match hire duration.
- Power available? Check power access before booking; we can advise what is needed for the machine.
- Water access. A tap to fill the solution tank and a sink or outlet to empty recovery water.
- Can the area be ventilated? Open windows, fans or an air mover speed up drying.
- Drying support? In cool or humid rooms, pair with an air mover or dehumidifier.
- Delivery or Greenford UB6 collection? Greenford UB6 collection is available by booking; London delivery is also available by booking.
- Hire dates. Allow time for cleaning plus drying before re-occupying the room.
- Cleaning solution. Cleaning solution options may be available at booking — ask us when you book.
- Pre-vacuum. Vacuum first to lift loose soil — extraction works better on dust-free pile.
Job-by-job suitability
Honest guidance for the most common jobs we get asked about.
| Job | Suitable starting point? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| End-of-tenancy carpet clean | Yes, where suitable | Vacuum first; plan drying time before final inspection. Check the carpet care label. |
| Rental refresh between tenants | Yes, where suitable | Pair with an air mover in cool / humid rooms to bring drying time down. |
| Domestic carpet cleaning (rooms, hallways, stairs) | Yes | Hose and upholstery tools may help with stairs and tighter areas, depending on the setup. |
| Office / small commercial carpet cleaning | Yes, where suitable | Best for rooms, aisles and spot work — not for very large open-plan floors. |
| Upholstery and stairs (fabric sofas, armchairs) | Yes, with upholstery tool | Test on a hidden patch first; light passes only — avoid soaking the fabric. |
| Delicate or specialist carpets (wool, silk, antique rugs) | Check first | Only if the care label confirms wet cleaning is safe; specialist rugs may need professional cleaning. |
| Heavy stains — paint, oil, glue or unknown staining | Specialist treatment | Extraction may reduce them but does not always remove them — pre-treat or use a specialist service. |
| Wet carpet drying after cleaning or a leak | Pair with a dryer | Use this to extract excess water, then run a carpet & floor dryer to finish. |

Carpet cleaner hire — common questions
Honest answers about what this machine can and can’t do.
What is this carpet cleaner best used for?
It’s a hot water extraction machine suited to carpets, rugs and fabric upholstery where the material is suitable for wet cleaning — domestic carpets, stairs, sofas, fabric chairs, car interiors and small office or commercial carpets. It can also help with minor wet-area clean-up where suitable.
Is it suitable for an end-of-tenancy clean?
Yes, where the carpet itself is suitable for wet cleaning. Many tenancy agreements ask for the carpets to be cleaned to a reasonable standard at move-out. Plan for drying time so the property is dry before final inspection.
Will it remove every stain?
Hot water extraction can reduce or remove many common stains, but heavily set-in stains (oil, paint, ink, dye transfer, pet marks or unknown stains) may not lift fully. Pre-treating with a suitable carpet stain product before extraction usually helps. We can’t promise stain removal — always test first on a small, hidden area.
Is it safe for every type of carpet?
No machine is suitable for every carpet — wet cleaning depends on the carpet’s fibre and construction. Always check the manufacturer’s care label or guidance before booking. Pure wool, silk or specialist rugs in particular should only be wet-cleaned where the label confirms it’s safe.
Does it come with carpet shampoo?
Cleaning solution options may be available at booking — ask us when you book and we’ll confirm what’s included with the machine for your dates.
How long do carpets take to dry?
Drying time depends on the carpet pile, how wet the surface is left, ventilation, room temperature and humidity. In a warm, well-ventilated room with light passes, carpets often feel dry to walk on within a few hours. In cool or humid rooms it can take longer — pairing with an air mover shortens drying time.
Do I need an air mover or dehumidifier?
Not always. For light refresh cleans in a warm, ventilated room you may not need extra drying support. For larger areas, minor wet-area clean-up, or rooms that are cool or humid, an air mover from Carpet & floor dryers or a unit from Drying & heating helps.
Can I collect the carpet cleaner in person?
Yes — collection is available from Greenford UB6 by booking. Contact us if you want to check vehicle suitability before collection.
Do you deliver across London?
Yes — we deliver to most London postcodes by booking. Delivery slots and rates are confirmed at the time of booking. To check availability for your address and date, call 020 3375 4048 or email info@hireload.co.uk.
How much does carpet cleaner hire cost?
Pricing is shown in the booking section above and varies with hire duration, your booking dates, and whether collection or delivery is selected. Longer hire periods may offer better value depending on the booking — call or email if you’d like us to confirm options for your dates.
What should I check before booking?
Confirm the carpet or fabric is suitable for wet cleaning, that there’s mains power within reach (check power access before booking — we can advise what is needed for the machine), water and drainage access on site, ventilation or drying support if needed, and your delivery or collection date. Vacuuming the carpet beforehand will give the best extraction result.
