Scrubber Dryer Hire — London
Industrial scrubber dryer hire for floors that need to be clean, dry and back in use
One pass. The floor behind you is dry and walkable. A scrubber dryer washes and dries in a single pass — the brush scrubs with water and low-foam detergent, the rear squeegee gathers the dirty water into a line, and the vacuum lifts it straight off the floor into a recovery tank. No mop, no bucket, no wet-floor signs closing a corridor for an hour afterwards. That recovery step is the whole difference between this and a rotary floor scrubber and polisher, which cleans the floor but leaves it wet for you to mop.
This is Numatic TwinTec TT 3450S hire — a 450mm walk-behind machine with a 30-litre tank and 42m of cable reach from a standard 13A socket. It is the machine people mean when they search for warehouse floor cleaner hire, school floor cleaning machine hire or hard floor cleaning machine hire in London. Indoor hard floors only. Collect from Greenford UB6 or book London delivery with your dates.

Quick answer
What is a scrubber dryer, and who should hire one?
A scrubber dryer — also called a wash and dry floor machine or a wet floor drying machine — is a floor cleaner that scrubs and removes the water in the same pass. A rotating brush cleans the floor, a squeegee collects the dirty water and a vacuum motor lifts it into a recovery tank, so the floor is dry within seconds and safe to walk on straight away.
Is it different from a rotary floor scrubber? Yes, and the difference is the point. A rotary floor scrubber or polisher has no squeegee, no vacuum and no recovery tank. It cleans the floor and leaves it wet. It is the better machine for stripping and polishing, and for small areas. A scrubber dryer is the better machine for cleaning a large hard floor quickly and handing it straight back.
Who should hire one? Facilities managers, contract cleaners, schools and colleges, warehouse and production teams, gyms and leisure centres, and construction firms doing handover cleans — anyone with a hard floor of a few hundred square metres or more that cannot stay wet. This machine is the Numatic TwinTec TT 3450S: 450mm scrub width, 30-litre tank, 42m cable reach, indoor hard floors only.

TT 3450S denotes the single-tank body; the TT 3450T is the twin-tank variant. This is a discontinued Numatic line — the current equivalent is the TT 4045. What we hire is a proven British-built machine, serviced and tested before it goes out. Low-foam chemical is not supplied with the hire.
Honest advice
Read this before you book
This is a commercial machine and it rewards the right job. Four things decide whether it is the right hire for you — and we would rather tell you now than after a wasted delivery.
Hire it when the floor has to go straight back into use
The reason to pay for a scrubber dryer rather than a rotary machine is time. A warehouse aisle, a school corridor, a production floor before the next shift, a reception at 6am — anywhere a wet floor is a genuine problem rather than an inconvenience. On a large area it also beats mopping outright: one pass, no bucket changes, no drying window, no signage.
Hire the rotary instead for small or specialist work
For a shop floor, a flat, a single unit, or for stripping and polishing, the rotary floor scrubber and polisher is the better hire and costs noticeably less. It is lighter, it fits in a car and it is far more forgiving to learn on. We would rather send you the cheaper machine that suits the job than take the bigger booking and have it come back unused.
You must supply low-foam chemical
It is not supplied with the hire, and it is not a detail you can skip. Ordinary floor detergent foams heavily, the foam is drawn into the recovery tank, and foam in the recovery tank damages the vacuum motor — which your deposit covers. Low-foam floor detergent is inexpensive from any janitorial supplier. Buy it before the machine arrives.
Plan the transport before you plan the clean
57 kg dry and 1,150 mm long. Collection needs a van with a ramp or tail-lift, or two people who can handle the weight safely. It will not go in a car boot. If that is not realistic, book London delivery and let us do the lifting instead.
The honest summary: large hard floor that has to be dry immediately — this machine. Small area, or stripping and polishing — the rotary, and you will spend less. Carpet or outdoors — neither of them.
Where it works
Where it earns its keep
Warehouses and distribution floors
Sealed concrete carrying forklift traffic and tyre marks. The 450mm deck is narrow enough to work aisles and get in around racking legs, not just the open bays.
Schools, colleges and sports halls
Half-term and holiday deep cleans, where the whole point is finishing before term restarts and leaving the floor safe to walk on the same day.
Post-construction handover cleans
Plaster dust and building residue on new screed or freshly laid vinyl, where the floor has to look finished and be dry for inspection or handover.
Production and food-prep areas
Floors that must be visibly clean and dry before the next shift starts. Removing the standing water is the part a mop cannot do reliably.
Large offices and receptions
Vinyl, safety flooring and sealed stone in entrances, atriums and corridors. Out-of-hours work is realistic because there is no drying window to wait out.
Gyms and leisure centres
Lifts the film that builds on rubber and vinyl sports flooring. Check the flooring manufacturer’s water and detergent limits first — some sports surfaces have strict rules.
Compare
Scrubber dryer vs rotary floor scrubber — which one do you actually need?
The short version: a polisher cleans the floor, a scrubber dryer cleans and finishes it. Which one you want comes down to the size of the area, and whether the floor has to be dry when you walk away.
| Factor | Scrubber dryer (TT 3450S) | Rotary floor scrubber / polisher |
|---|---|---|
| Floor when you finish | Dry and walkable | Wet — needs mopping |
| Squeegee and vacuum | Both fitted | Neither |
| Recovery tank | Yes — 30L | No |
| Brush action | 150 rpm — scrubbing | Slower, higher torque — buffing |
| Stripping and polishing | Not intended | Designed for it |
| Best for | Large hard floors, fast turnaround | Small areas, stripping, polishing |
| Ease of transport | 57 kg — van with ramp or tail-lift | Much lighter — fits in a car |
| Cost | Higher — you are paying for the drying | Lower |
| Choose it when… | The floor cannot stay wet | The area is small, or the job is stripping / polishing |
First time on a floor machine? Start with the rotary floor scrubber and polisher — it is more forgiving and cheaper to learn on. Or browse all cleaning equipment hire and floor cleaner hire in London.
Floors
Floor suitability
If your floor is not on this list, call us before you book rather than after.
| Floor type | Verdict | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sealed concrete and power float | Ideal | What the machine is built for — warehouse and production floors. |
| Vinyl, lino, safety flooring | Ideal | Corridors, schools, offices and healthcare settings. |
| Sealed stone, terrazzo, porcelain | Ideal | Receptions, atriums and entrance halls. |
| Rubber and sports flooring | Check first | Confirm the flooring manufacturer’s water and detergent limits. |
| Unsealed or porous concrete | Call first | Porous floors absorb water, so pick-up and the finish both suffer. |
| Wood and laminate | Not suitable | Unless the flooring manufacturer confirms wet cleaning in writing. Water and timber do not mix. |
| Carpet | Not suitable | Use a carpet cleaner instead. |
| Ramps and slopes | Not suitable | Rated to a 2% maximum gradient. |
| Outdoor surfaces | Not suitable | Indoor machine. Use a pressure washer with a surface cleaner. |
Pricing
What scrubber dryer hire costs in London
Pick your dates at the top of the page for the exact live price. The booking calendar is the authority — it accounts for your actual dates and any options you choose. Longer periods are priced there too.
The £150 damage deposit is refundable. It is taken at booking and returned once the machine has been checked back in. The most common reason a deposit is affected is foam damage to the vacuum motor from the wrong chemical — which is why we labour the low-foam point.
Worth noticing: a week costs barely more than two days. If a school or warehouse clean might run over, book the longer period from the start rather than extending. For a quote on a specific period, call 020 3375 4048 or email info@hireload.co.uk.

Collection and delivery
Collect from Greenford UB6
Pick the machine up from our Greenford UB6 base. Be realistic about transport: 57 kg dry and 1,150 mm long means a van with a ramp or tail-lift, or two people who can lift it safely. It will not go in a car boot, and turning up without the right vehicle is the most common wasted journey we see. Photo ID is required for every hire.
London delivery by booking
We deliver across London. Delivery and collection are arranged as part of your booking, so choose your dates at the top of the page and the available options and pricing are shown there. If access, parking, lift availability or a delivery window is tight at your address, tell us up front — that is what most often causes problems on the day.
Not sure whether collection or delivery works out better for your dates? Call 020 3375 4048 or email info@hireload.co.uk and we will talk it through.
Two-minute guide
Using it: the two-minute guide
- Check the floor is suitable. Indoor, hard, sealed and no steeper than a 2% gradient. If you are unsure about the surface, check before the machine arrives, not after.
- Use low-foam chemical only. Not supplied. Ordinary detergent foams, the foam reaches the recovery tank and damages the vacuum motor.
- Fill the clean tank correctly. Up to 30 litres of clean water with the detergent dosed to the chemical manufacturer’s instructions — not by eye.
- Set up near a 13A socket. You have 42m of range, so pick the socket that covers the most floor and saves you replugging mid-job.
- Sweep, then scrub in controlled passes. Grit jams under the brush. Overlap each pass by roughly 10cm so you do not leave dirty strips between clean ones.
- Let the squeegee and vacuum do the recovery. Release water little and often. The floor behind you should look damp, not wet — too much water simply outruns the squeegee.
- Empty the recovery tank before it overfills. Pick-up degrades badly as the tank fills, so empty it early rather than waiting for it to stop working.
- Return the machine clean. Tanks emptied and rinsed, brush and squeegee clear. It protects your deposit and takes five minutes.
Full operating instructions are issued with the machine at collection or delivery — follow those on the day.
Common mistakes
Common mistakes to avoid
Using normal detergent
The most expensive mistake on this page. Foam reaches the recovery tank and damages the vacuum motor — and your deposit covers that. Low-foam only.
Hiring it for carpet
It is a hard-floor machine. Carpet needs a carpet cleaner — tell us the floor type and we will say so before you book.
Expecting it to strip or polish
It scrubs and dries. Stripping and polishing is the rotary scrubber’s job, and it costs less too.
Trying to move it in a car
57 kg and 1,150 mm long. It will not go in a boot. Bring a van with a ramp or tail-lift, bring a second person, or book delivery.
Using it on wood or laminate
Not suitable unless the flooring manufacturer confirms wet cleaning. Water damage to a timber floor is not something a hire machine can undo.
Forgetting it is indoor-only
Indoor hard floors, 2% maximum gradient. For car parks, yards and external walkways use a surface cleaner.
FAQ
Scrubber dryer hire London — frequently asked questions
How much does scrubber dryer hire cost in London?
From £99.99 + VAT for one day and £199.99 + VAT for up to a week, plus a £150 refundable damage deposit. Longer hires are priced on the booking calendar — pick your dates at the top of the page for the exact live price.
What is the difference between a scrubber dryer and a floor scrubber?
A scrubber dryer has a squeegee, a vacuum and a recovery tank, so it lifts the dirty water and leaves the floor dry. A rotary floor scrubber or polisher has none of those — it cleans but leaves the floor wet for you to mop. The rotary is better for stripping and polishing and for small areas; the scrubber dryer is better for cleaning large hard floors quickly.
Does a scrubber dryer leave the floor dry?
Yes, when it is set up properly. The brush washes, the squeegee gathers the water into a line and the vacuum lifts it into the recovery tank. The floor dries within seconds and is safe to walk on straight away. If the floor is still wet behind the machine, it is usually too much water, a lifted squeegee, or foam from the wrong chemical.
Is the Numatic TT 3450S suitable for warehouses?
Yes — sealed concrete and power float floors are what it is built for. The 450mm deck is narrow enough to work aisles and get around racking legs rather than only cleaning the open bays.
Can I use it in a school or sports hall?
Yes, and school floor cleaning machine hire is one of the most common reasons people book it — half-term and holiday deep cleans where the floor has to be finished and dry before term restarts. On sports flooring, check the flooring manufacturer’s water and detergent limits first.
Can I use it on vinyl or safety flooring?
Yes. Vinyl, lino and safety flooring are ideal surfaces for this machine, which is why it suits corridors, schools, offices and healthcare settings.
Can I use it on carpet?
No. It is a hard-floor machine only. For carpet, hire a carpet cleaner instead.
Can I use it outside?
No. It is an indoor machine rated to a 2% maximum gradient. For car parks, yards, loading bays and external walkways, hire a pressure washer with a surface cleaner.
Does it need a normal plug socket?
Yes — a standard 13A socket at 220–240V, 50Hz. No three-phase and no transformer needed. You get 42m of cleaning range from wherever you plug in, so pick the socket that covers the most floor.
Is cleaning chemical included?
No. Detergent is not supplied with the hire — you provide it, and it must be low-foam.
What chemical should I use?
A low-foam floor detergent, dosed to the chemical manufacturer’s instructions. Ordinary floor cleaner foams heavily, the foam is drawn into the recovery tank and it damages the vacuum motor. Low-foam chemical is inexpensive from any janitorial supplier.
Will it fit in a car?
No. It weighs 57kg dry and is 1,150mm long. You need a van with a ramp or tail-lift, or two people who can handle the weight safely. Otherwise book delivery and let us handle the lifting.
Is there a deposit?
Yes — a £150 refundable damage deposit is taken at booking and returned once the machine has been checked back in.
Can I collect from Greenford?
Yes. Collection is from Greenford UB6. Bring a van with a ramp or tail-lift, or a second person. Photo ID is required for every hire.
Do you deliver across London?
Yes — London delivery is available by booking. Choose your dates at the top of the page to see the delivery options for your address, or call 020 3375 4048 with your postcode and dates.
Will it fit through a standard doorway?
Yes. The scrub width is 450mm and the machine is 740mm at its widest, so a standard doorway is no problem.
